Hello, I’m
Tirrea Billings

I’m Tirrea Billings, an artivist, educator, and storyteller who believes the most powerful narratives come from communities closest to injustice. I approach storytelling as both an art and a tool for liberation, combining creative production with strategic thinking to craft narratives that inspire action.

At the heart of my work is honest dialogue about how power operates, particularly within nonprofit and philanthropic sectors that claim to advance justice while often perpetuating harm. Through my platform philanthropy unfiltered, I write candidly about the contradictions, dysfunction, and possibilities within social change work, creating space for more liberating approaches to governance structures.

I believe in the potential of radical honesty, dialogue, and imagination to transform systems that don’t serve us. My work requires both courage to name what’s broken and creativity to envision what’s possible. Whether through strategic communications, media production, or writing, I’m dedicated to supporting movements that prioritize community and accountability.

Ultimately, my mission is to help shift power toward people working to build a more just world, ensuring their stories are told with the depth they deserve.

What Drives the Work

Core Values

01
Radical Honesty
Real transformation starts with naming what’s broken. The work demands courage to tell the truth, even when — especially when — it’s uncomfortable.
02
Community-Centered Storytelling
The most powerful narratives come from communities closest to injustice. Storytelling is a tool for liberation, not a commodity to be packaged.
03
Accountability & Imagination
Accountability and imagination can coexist. Critiquing broken systems and envisioning liberatory futures are not opposites — they’re inseparable.
“I approach storytelling as both an art and a tool for liberation.”
— Tirrea Billings
